The Roosterfish is a popular game fish in tropical waters.  They can grow to over 1.2 m (4 ft) and 45 kg (100 lbs).  Their skin is silvery underneath, with a bluish-green tint on top.  The bands tend to be a brownish color.

Key identifying characteristics

 

1. Seven long dorsal spines

2. Two dark curved bands along the back

a. One band begins at the front of the dorsal fin

b. One band begins at the back
